Huskies post strong marks at JV Meet

4/24/09
The Matawan Huskies had several strong performances at the JV meet today. The event, the third of four JV meets was held at Raritan high school. The first two were held at Matawan, while the JV meet on May 1st will also be held at Raritan. The events contested today were the 400IH, 3200, 100, 800, 4x400, pole vault, triple jump, shot put, and discus. The Huskies each performed well in their respective events. The JV series allows for our team to have a developmental dynamic. It gives our younger athletes the ability to strive for the success that sometimes is unavailable at a larger competition.

In the 400IH , Albert Masonious ran 1:05, Justin Bartlett ran 1:18, and Kadeem Jogezi ran 1:15.

In the 100 meter dash, Matawan's top performer was Keith Beatty with a time of 11.7. Beatty was also the best performer in the Triple jump with a distance of 41 feet. Other performers in the 100 included Jawan Bellamy (12.5), Brian A(12.4), Dylan Cerretta (12.9), Brandon Cerretta (12.4), Calvin Cummings (13.1), Malik Gumbs (13.2), and Jay Burch(13.3).

In the 3200 meter run, Mat Manglona posted a time of 11:59. Mat was followed by Jake Weinberger (12:26), and Steve Ramdial (12:57).

In the 800, Tom Murray posted the fastest Matawan time 2:20.3. Tom was followed by Mat Manglona (2:21), Marco Ferrara(2:29), Ben Monroe(2:30), and Steve Madden(2:31).

In the Shot Put, Kevin Johnson had the best throw for Matawan with a distance of 39 feet 7 inches. Johnson was followed by Chris Howley (38'), Pat Murphy (37'), and Sharaj Prince (36'). Howley and Murphy also posted throws for the discus with tosses of 111'8" and 94' respectively.

Junior Dan Cordi cleared 10 feet in the Pole Vault and Keith Beatty jumped 41 feet 10 inches in the Triple Jump.

Keep up the Good Work Huskies! Remember being great is a decision. You have to want it and you have to want to work at it. Keep on Running!
